2010
news and notes....
(6/27/10)
Sheldon capped off his Ohio Sprint Speedweek run in successful
fashion at Fremont on Saturday night. A great qualifying
run ultimately put him in the 7th starting spot for the
feature and he held his spot and came away with a 9th
place finish in the 50 lap affair...
(6/13/10) Sheldon picked up his first
ever sprint car feature win on Saturday night at Wayne
County Speedway. 19 cars were on hand... Sheldon will
be running the full Speedweek schedule starting at Attica
on Friday June 18th!
(5/26/10)
Sheldon
is racing with the NRA 360 Sprints at Lima on Friday,
Waynesfield on Saturday, and Eldora on Sunday!
(5/18/10) Sheldon blew a motor at KC on Saturday after
starting on the pole of the dash...
(5/6/10) Sheldon will be at Lernerville this Friday and
Sharon on Saturday...
(4/15/10) Sheldon will be at Limaland on Friday and KC
Raceway on Saturday...
(4/11/10) After a pretty sucessful first weekend out for
Sheldon (12th at Attica on April 3) - he experienced a
tough go-around this past weekend. Nearly 50 sprints at
Attica for the All Stars. Sheldon wasn't able to transfer
out of the B-Main.
(3/26/10) Well...scratch the whole weekend. Lernerville
canceled tonight and Eldora canceled tomorrow. We'll try
it again next weekend - Attica on April 2nd for Sheldon
(Mar
25) Attica
has rained out for Friday, so the plan now is to run Sheldon
at Lernerville Speedway instead. Jac and Sheldon are also
heading down to Eldora on Saturday for the Tune and Test,
which starts at 2:30 pm.
(Mar 22) Sheldon's first race of the season will be Friday
night at Attica Raceway Park. The WoO Series is off the
next two weeks so Jac will be helping Sheldon.

2009
news and notes....
(Oct 13) Sheldon
is finished racing his sprint car for the year. He is
making the transition back to two wheels for the winter
months. His first indoor arenacross outing was last weekend
in Ohio where he placed 2nd overall on Saturday and Sunday
on his 125 KTM bike...
(Oct 3) Sheldon had a solid showing at the Big
E on Saturday. He was in a stacked and finished 3rd after
starting 3rd (1st Butch Schroeder, 2nd Jessica Zempken,
3rd Sheldon, 4th Tim Allison...) He started the feature
in 11th and spun out on the first lap. He restarted at
the tail and ran a clean race from that point on and ended
up 15th. Not a superb finishing position but that was
a stout field of 32 cars and one of the toughest tracks
around, so all in all, it was a good showing.
(Oct 1) Sheldon
will be racing his 360 car at Eldora on Saturday night
with the NRA Sprint Invaders!
(Sept 27) Despite not making it out of the C-Main
(44 cars at Eldora), it was a good night for Sheldon at
Eldora. He got some quality laps in his 360 and looked
impressive - he held his line and turned a lap 14.309
seconds - less than .5 seconds off of the 360 track record.
(Sept 22) DOUBLE DOSE OF WILD CHILD AT THE BIG
E......The time has come... Sheldon is going to race at
Eldora Speedway this Friday! Jac wants Sheldon to get
some laps at the Big E while he is there to watch- before
possibly turning him loose on his own the following weekend
for the NRA 360 show at Eldora... Sheldon will be powering
his 360 sprint against the Outlaws, but the number one
goal for this weekend is to simply get some laps under
his belt at the high-speed track. Lil' Jac Neville, who
helped power Sheldon to Rookie of the Year honors at Limaland,
will be at Eldora to wrench on the car....
(Sept 3) Another busy weekend is on tap for Sheldon.
He'll kick it off at Lakeville on Friday night, before
catching up with the All Star Circuit of Champions at
Attica on Saturday and Hilltop on Sunday!
(August 31) Despite the finishing position on
Saturday at Lima, Sheldon turned in his brightest performance
to date. The youngster started 16th in the feature event
that was packed with high caliber drivers. He took a liking
to the extreme high line and absolutely tore through the
field - all the way up to 3rd position with less than
10 laps to go. He was gaining on second place running
Greg Wilson when the caution flew for another car. During
that caution period Sheldon was forced to retreat to the
pit area with a flat tire (that probably came when he
brushed the wall a few laps earlier). He was unable to
restart and was credited with 14th.... On Sunday at Millstream,
he brought the 360 car out against the 410's. He transferred
through the B-Main and ran a few laps in the feature before
pulling in with no brakes.
(August 28) Sheldon has a busy weekend of racing
on tap. He will be at Limaland Motorsports Park Friday
night for the season championship night in the NRA Sprint
Invaders division. Saturday is undecided at this point
- either Attica Raceway Park or KC Raceway. He will wrap
up the weekend with a Sunday night show at Millstream.
(August 22) Sheldon got back to action on Friday
night after a few weeks of race chasing with Jac. He visited
Lakeville and had a very solid night. With 30 cars present,
he went out and won his heat race, started 6th in the
feature and ended up 5th!
(July 31) Sheldon will be racing at Limaland
tonight... The Outlaws are off tonight, so Jac will be
heading over to help him out!
(July 27) Sheldon had a decent night at Limaland...
he had to run the B-Main after failing to transfer though
his heat, but he went out and won that event. He then
started at the tail of the feature but made his way up
to 7th! Saturday at KC was rained out...
(July 22) After taking the week off to hang out
with Jac and the R19 team, Sheldon will get back to business
this weekend in the 360 car. The team will tentatively
try to make it over to Lima on Friday night (that's not
set in stone just yet). Then Saturday, they will head
down to KC and race with the 360s.... The 410 motor is
still away being refreshed, so until that comes back,
Sheldon will be concentrating on the 360 races in the
area...
(July 13) Sheldon raced Attica and Fremont over
the weekend - 410 Sprints both nights. He couldn't quite
get the feel of the car worked out or the power up to
snuff either night and failed to transfer out of the B-Mains...
The 410 motor is being refreshed this week, so he'll have
the week off to hang out with Jac and the R19 team...
see you all at Lima and Eldora!
July 7) Sheldon had some bad luck over at Sharon
on Tuesday night. He was running in the transer spot in
his heat race - right behind Kasey Kahne, when something
on the car broke on the white flag lap. He then had to
go to the B-Main where he was met with more bad luck.
He broke yet again - this time on the 2nd lap of the B.
He ended his night in 13th.
(July 5) Sheldon competed at Attica and Fremont
over the weekend. He faired well at Attica - transferring
from his heat to the feature where he would finish 14th.
He wouldn't do quite as well at Fremont, where he wasn't
able to transfer out of the B-Main.... The next race on
the schedule will be Tuesday, July 7 at Sharon Speedway.
It's the Lou Blaney Classic for 410 sprints. Tony Stewart
and Kasey Kahne are scheduled to race this event as well!
(June 29) The Voice of Holmes County interviewed
Sheldon last week at Hilltop prior to racing. It was his
first radio interview, and we've got it for you right
here. Special thanks to Mark at www.thevoiceofholmescounty.com
for providing us with the audio. Click the play button
below to listen...
(June 28)
Sheldon's Speedweek results are posted below.
It was an up and down week - that unfortunately ended
on a severe 'down'... he flipped the 93 car hard in turn
four of the B-Main at Fremont. He got up high and bounced
off the wall and went into a series of flips - extensive
damage to the car.... prior to that, he was coming off
his best night of Speedweek after making the A-main at
Limaland on Friday night.... Other notes of interest for
the week: Sheldon best qualifying effort came at Fremont
where he timed 16th out of 43 cars. Waynesfield was extremly
rough - he tried to run high and above the ruts. He managed
to race clean and stayed out of trouble....
(June 16) Tentative plans for Sheldon and the
#93 car are to follow Ohio Sprint Speedweek for 6 shows,
starting at Attica Raceway Park on Friday night. He will
skip Eldora, then pick back up with Speedweek at Findlay
on Sunday night. Provided things go smooth, plans at this
point would be to follow the All Star Speedweek trail
the rest of the week after Findlay... We'll of course
keep you updated throughout the big week of racing in
Ohio. Any changes in schedule will be posted here...
(June 15) Sheldon raced at Limaland and Waynesfield
over the weekend. Limaland was an interesting night -
he started 11th in the feature and was up to around 7th
or 8th when he spun out and had to go to the tail. He
spent the rest of the race right on the fence, blasting
around the top side and got back up to 11th by the end
of the race.... Saturday at Waynesfield, it was another
night with the 360 sprint cars and he ended up 8th in
a field of 19 cars. It was his first ever visit to the
1/3 mile track.
(June 7) It was a nightmare of a weekend for
Sheldon. At the start of the feature on Friday, a car
broke in front of him and he got collected and rolled
the car. Mainly just wing damage to the 360 car. Saturday
at KC was a different story... At the start of B-Main,
he got up high in some loose stuff which sent the car
into the turn one wall. The car did a series of nasty
flips. He was ok, but the car was destroyed.... Shldon
will more than likely race Limaland on Friday night. Saturday
is up in the air, depending on how things go with putting
together a new race car.
(June 4) Sheldon will be at Limaland on Friday
and KC Raceway on Saturday.
(May 31) Shedon was rained out at Limaland and
finished 8th at Wayne County on Saturday
(May 27) Sheldon will be racing at Limaland on
Friday night and Sharon Speedway on Saturday night...
(May 21) Sheldon's tentative schedule for the
weekend inclues Limaland on Friday night and Wayne County
on Saturday night.
(May 15) Sheldon turned in a solid performance
last night at Limaland Motorsports Park in the 360 division.
He started 3rd in his and finished 2nd to Neil Shepard.
He drew the 5 pill for featuring starting position and
he hung right with them. He fell back as far as 7th but
climbed back up to a 5th place finish - behind some stout
Limaland competition. 1)JR Stewart 2)Tim Allison 3)Ron
Blair 4)Neil Shepard 5)Sheldon Haudenschild. Cody
and Sheldon are heading down to KC Raceway for Saturday
night action. It will be Sheldon's first trip to the high
banked bullring.
(May 3) Sheldon's quest to conquer Limaland was
washed out on Friday as the track was forced to cancel
due to rain. Saturday night was another new track, as
the team loaded up and traveled across state to Fremont
Speedway. A stellar field of 410 sprints were on hand.
While he didnt transfer to the feature, he got progressively
better and better with each lapped turn. It was a good
learning experience, he raced clean, and brought the car
home in one piece. No racing for Sheldon this weekend
- he will heading down to Eldora to hang out with Jac
and R19 team for the World of Outlaws weekend...
(April 27) Friday night racing at Limaland was
filled with a series of ups and downs for Sheldon. He
immediately adapted to the track during hot laps and felt
very comfortable running up high along the wall (no surprise
there, right?!) He drew the outside front row for his
heat race and proceeded to run away with the easy win.
Lining up for the feature is where things got a little
hectic. While all of the cars were being pushed off, it
was determined that Sheldon passed the pace truck and
he was sent to the tail for the start. Things went well
for the first 16 laps - he picked off a few cars and was
up to around 13th (from 20th) when he got loose in turn
four coming down for lap 17. The track had been slicking
off some at that end of the Speedway and he just lost
the handle on it. The car suffered substantial rear-end
damage from contact with another car during the spin.
Cody
got things back to working order for the Saturday show
at Wayne County where Sheldon would come home 9th out
of 15 cars in the feature. Stay tuned for the schedule
for the upcoming weekend...
( April 21) It was another big weekend for Sheldon
as he experienced two new race tracks - and two very different
surfaces. On Friday night Lakeville he ran 3rd in his
heat race and was running 3rd in the feature when he spun
out and was relegated to the tail. He finished the night
9th out of 12 cars. It was a very rough track surface,
but it was good experience for him to get 25 solid laps
on that type of surface.
At Wayne County on Saturday he qualified 6th out of 16
cars and then ran 2nd in his heat race. For the feature,
he lined up on the outside front row. He made a nice outside
pass for the lead and led the event for 3 laps before
getting off the racing groove on the backstretch and falling
back to second, where he settled in for a few laps. His
fate would take a turn for the worst towards the middle
of the race when he got up in the dust and marbles in
turn three and backed it into the wall. A learning experience
for sure! The guys will work on the car this week and
we'll post the Friday and Saturday plans soon...
(April 16) Change of plans for Friday night.
Sheldon will now be racing at Lakeville on Friday night
instead of Limaland...
(April 15) Sheldon will make his Limaland Motorsports
Park debut this Friday night when the NRA Sprint Invaders
come calling. He will have his 360 sprint on hand to take
part in the action on the high-banked speedplant. Saturday
will see the pilot of the #93 take on the best of Wayne
County Speedway in the 410 sprint car division.
(April 12) It was race number two for
Sheldon on Saturday night. He qualified 34th out of 51
cars, but was forced to race the B-main where he would
ultimiltly end up 18th. Still though - a productive night
as he kept the car in one piece and gained more valuable
track time.
(April 5) Sheldon competed in his first ever
sprint car event at Attica Raceway Park over the weekend
and it was a night where results really didn't matter
all that much. It was more about feeling comfortable in
the car and getting some quality seat time - and he did
just that. He completed every lap and looked very smooth.
In the end, he finished 11th in the B-Main and looked
impressive powering a 360 sprint against the 410 class...
It's back to Attica this weekend for another first - it
will be Sheldon's first sanctioned race with the running
of the Spring Nationals for the All Star Sprint Cars.
The 410 motor will be dropped in the car this week as
well.
(March 30) - Sheldon will make his sprint car
debut this Friday night at Attica Raceway Park in Attica,
Ohio. The best part of the deal for the sprint car rookie
is that he'll have a pretty darn good coach in his corner
this week... The World of Outlaws are off this weekend,
so Jac will be home to help give the rookie Haudenschild
some pointers! In other news surrounding the team... Sheldon
now has a full-time crew chief for the year. Fellow Wooster
native and buddy Cody Jacobs has agreed to help out turning
wrenches for the season. Cody is the son of racer Dean
Jacobs.
(March 23) - Although still in grade school,
Sheldon Haudenschild has had a very successful tenure
riding motocross in events all over the eastern United
States since he was just 5 years of age. A big change
is in store this year however... he'll be trading in his
two wheeled machines for those of the four wheeled variety.
Yes, you guessed it... there's another Haudenschild ready
to strap into sprint cars! Turning 16 this year means
the youngest of the Haudenschild clan is now old enough
to run full fledged sprints - and he'll do that both in
a 360 sprint and 410 sprint in and around the Ohio valley
this season...
Sheldon will begin the year with sponsorship from Troyer's
Trail Bologna, RA Patterson Farms, Elden Racing, and Ham
Signs. Check back to this page throughout the spring for
much more information on the upcoming season - including
schedule, photos, sponsor updates, and more!
