RACES ON THE HORIZON |
Source: Jonathan Bateman Jac will kickoff a huge two week period of racing by returning to the Eldora Speedway for three straight nights of action this weekend, August 5-7. The Thursday night All Star race will see Haudenschild back behind the wheel of the Jamie Miller owned Ham Signs #6m. The Wild Child last raced the #6m "Mystery Machine" to a 3rd place finish in the Brady Doty Classic at Attica three weeks ago. Jac will return to the Forbrook Motorsports #5 for the Friday night World of Outlaws show. He will also pilot the Forbrook #5 on Saturday night in the USAC nonwing Mopar Thunder. This $50,000 to win race already has over 75 entrants. Following Eldora, Haudenschild and the Forbrook team will head to Oskaloosa, Iowa and the Southern Iowa Speedway for the Ultimate Nonwing Challenge on Tuesday. The top ten finishers in this event will be invited to Knoxville for a special $10,000 to win invitational race on Wednesday. Wednesday also marks the start of the world's biggest sprint car event - The Knoxville Nationals. Haudenschild will be present all four days, with Saturday's winner taking home $125,000. Look for the Haudenschild Racing merchandise trailer to be present at
Eldora and Knoxville. Many new items will be for sale, including three
new shirts, shot glasses, hats, can coozies, and portraits. One special
item that will bring back memories for many fans is a retro throwback
shirt ---- the 1996 Wild Child Pennzoil shirt! This classic T-shirt will
be available beginning at Eldora on Thursday. |

HOPING FOR ANOTHER BIG PAYDAY |
Source: Dick Jordan Jac Haudenschild of Wooster, Ohio, who raked in $200,000 for his victory in last year's spectacular "Mopar Million Sprint at Eldora," returns to the half-mile dirt Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio this Saturday night seeking a $50,000 payday as USAC's National Sprint Car Series competes in the "Mopar Thunder." Haudenschild won last year's 40-lapper, which offered the biggest Sprint car paycheck in racing history. He hopes to add to his bank account this Saturday and will pilot a Maxim entered by Guy Forbrook from Morgan, Minn. Saturday night's 40-lap feature offers prize money totaling $166,600, with a $50,000 check awaiting the race winner, the largest paycheck of the 2004 USAC Sprint car season. Jay Drake of Val Verde, Calif. enters the event as the Valvoline USAC National Sprint Car Series point leader and enjoys a 119-point lead in quest of his first USAC National driving championship. Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif., winner of the Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint race at Alger, Wash. Friday night, ranks second, also seeking his initial USAC National title. More than 70 entries had been received for the "Mopar Thunder at Eldora," which includes heat races, a C-main, B-main and the 40-lap finale. A total of 26 starters are targeted for the feature event on the 1/2-mile dirt oval. Trailing Drake and Kruseman in the National standings going into the "Mopar Thunder" is 2004 Valvoline "Indiana Sprint Week" Champion Levi Jones of Olney, Ill., who would like to record his initial USAC feature victory in Saturday night's 40-lapper. His 2004 season has yielded no less than nine "top-five" finishes so far! Practice at Eldora Speedway Saturday begins at 4 pm and racing starts
at 8. |

TO RACE BRAD DOTY CLASSIC |
Source: Jonathan Bateman The Forbrook Motorsports team has decided to skip the Wednesday night Hartford World of Outlaws race to prepare for the Kings Royal at Eldora this weekend. Due to this, Jac will now race in honor of his good friend Brad Doty in the running of the Brad Doty Classic at Attica Raceway Park. The Wild Child will strap back into the familiar Ham Signs #6 "Mystery Machine" owned by Jamie Miller. This event starts a four race stretch where a possible $106,000 in prize money is up for grabs, should a driver win the next four races (Doty Classic, Knight Before the Royal, Kings Royal, Don Martin Memorial). CHILD REUNITES WITH GUY FORBROOK |
Source: Jonathan Bateman Tuesday night marked the return of Jac Haudenschild to the Guy Forbrook owned #5 Wirtgen America/MPD sprint car. Haudenschild and Forbrook decided to attempt a comeback on the World of Outlaws circuit after talking several times on the phone over the past few weeks. Haudenschild leaves the Jamie Miller #6m after three months at the helm of the 'mystery machine.' Miller and Haudenschild landed in victory lane three times during that stint and accumulated 13 top ten finishes. The Miller crew was a class act and everyone at Haudenschild Racing wishes them the best of luck the remainder of the year! On the topic of the new team, Haudenschild and Forbrook will race with the World of Outlaws for the majority of the remaining 2004 season, with the exception of few races which were previously committed to earlier in the season. More information concerning the upcoming schedule will be released in the coming weeks. The Wild Child and the Forbrook #5 will hit the Red River Valley Speedway July 8-10 for three straight days of sprint car racing with the World of Outlaws, before beginning to concentrate their efforts on preparing for the Kings Royal at Eldora. CHILD REUNITES WITH GUY FORBROOK |
Source: Richard Day SIOUX FALLS, SD (July 6) – “The Wild Child” is returning to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series. Fan favorite Jac Haudenschild is reuniting with Guy Forbrook and will drive the #5 Wirtgen/MPD Hand Controls Maxim starting Tuesday at Huset’s Speedway. Haudenschild and Forbrook, teammates on Jack Elden’s Pennzoil team in the late 1990s, also raced together in 2002 and early 2003. “I’m glad to have Jac driving my car again,” Forbrooks said. “We’re going to run Huset’s Tuesday and race with the Outlaws most of the rest of the season.” Tyler Walker started the year with a Preliminary Feature victory on opening night of the Cactus Classic at Manzanita Speedway in Forbrook’s car, but has had some scheduling conflicts. “Tyler is racing with the ASA, NASCAR Busch Series and USAC Silver Crown series,” Forbrook said. “We decided we would get a better rhythm if we got a different driver. Hopefully, Tyler will continue racing with the Busch Series and he has a lot of success. He’s a really good racecar driver.” Haudenschild, who drove Jamie Miller’s #6M Elden Racing Maxim for several months, raced past seven cars to finish third in the World of Outlaws Sprint Series “A” Feature at Eldora Speedway June 5th. “The Wild Child” ranked 16th in the 2003 World of Outlaws Sprint Series point standings, the 22nd straight year he has finished in the top 20. He also won the Inaugural Mopar Million non-winged sprint car race at Eldora Speedway last season. Haudenschild, the Gold Cup Race of Champions winner in 1998 and 1999, has won 39 main events in his World of Outlaws Sprint Series career. He ranked second behind NASCAR Nextel Cup racer Dave Blaney in the 1995 World of Outlaws Sprint Series point standings. Brian Carlson will also return to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series Tuesday at Huset’s Speedway. The 37-year-old driver from Linden, IN, suffered back injuries in a crash at Rolling Wheels Raceway June 2nd. Carlson ranks 20th in the point standings. World of Outlaws Sprint Series points leader Steve Kinser will be racing for his third straight and eighth "A" Feature victory of his career at Huset’s Speedway. Danny Lasoski, who is 84 points behind "The King of the Outlaws" in the standings, won track championships at the high-banked, 3/8-mile oval in 1989, 1990 and 1993. Terry McCarl, who won the first World of Outlaws Sprint Series main event of his career June 29th at Joplin 66 Speedway, set the qualifying standard at Huset’s Speedway with a 10.426 second lap on August 17, 2002. McCarl is Huset's Speedway’s defending and five-time champion. |

SPEEDWEEK UP NEXT |
Source: Jonathan Bateman After returning from his top ten finish in the Dirt Cup at Washington last weekend, Jac Haudenschild is resting and preparing for eight straight nights of racing in the Buckeye state beginning on June 26th. Fremont gets the Tuesday and Thursday shows, with a trip to Sharon Speedway sandwiched between on Wednesday. The Wild Child will hit the 1/4 mile of Limaland on Friday before rounding out week of racing at KC Raceway. Haudenschild has already won once at KC earlier this season with the All Stars. CHILD ENTERS DIRT CUP |
Source: Jonathan Bateman Plans were finalized this week to put Jac Haudenschild in the Terry Cowen owned #7t car for the Dirt Cup event at Skagit Speedway. The Burlington, Washington track will pay a healthy $20,000 to the victor of the June 17-19 event. While this will be Jac's first time in the car, one thing will seem very familiar to the Wild Child.. The hauler used by Cowen is the same hauler used by Jack Elden back in the early Pennzoil era. We will bring you more information regarding this event as the time draws closer. Contrary to what some people think, the motor used in last weekend's win at Butler was the same motor the team had been using all year long. Problems at Kistlers pushed back the arrival of the new motor nearly one week. The team is scheduled to pick up the motor sometime in the next day or two - in time for KC on Saturday, and hopefully Attica on Friday. The new "Mystery Tour" #6m shirts have arrived. They are on sale at all races, and will soon be available for order via the website as well. As usual, Patty has landed another awesome shirt! (Note: Despite, running the Dirt Cup in the 7t car, Jac will still be driving the Jamie Miller owned #6m after he gets back from Washington). |

NEWS / CHANGE OF PLANS |
Source: Jonathan Bateman Plans have taken an alternate route concerning racing action for the Jamie Miller owned team this weekend. The team will is now scheduled to make a stop at Kistler's on Friday morning to drop a new 410 powerplant under the hood of the Ham Signs / Sunset Meats / Double Jay Construction / Compressed Air Technologies #6 Maxim sprint car. This new motor has been made possible thanks to the generosity of a long time friend of the Haudenschild family--- Mr. Jack Elden. The motor pick-up is happening on such fast notice because Elden and Miller want to see the new powerplant dialed in before the Lernerville World of Outlaws show. Elden, who raced with Haudenschild for nine years on the World of Outlaws circuit in the 1990's, will continue to support The Wild Child and the Miller team throughout the 2004 season. Due to time constraints in getting up to Hartford in time for the All Star show, the team will swing over to Attica and drop in for the Jack Hewitt Classic. The Wild Child will break in the new motor racing in the winged portion of the show only. From there, the team will continue on to Butler Motor Speedway for the Saturday night All Star show before wrapping up the weekend at South Buxton Speedway in Canada on Sunday. While the autograph session at Hartford is obviously cancelled, the Butler autograph session will still go on as planned. The official Haudenschild Racing merchandise trailer will also be on hand at all three shows this weekend - Attica, Butler, and South Buxton. Stop by and check some of the unique collector items for sale! Also adding to the excitement of the weekend activities, Blenheim based performance parts giant Westside Performance Center will join the team as primary sponsor for the South Buxton race on Sunday. Westside Performance Plus/APC boasts over a half million dollars in autoparts and customized parts. |

WEEKEND PLANNED |
Source: Jonathan Bateman Mother Nature has not been very kind to Jac and the Miller Racing #6m team. The team has had a total of 12 race dates scheduled so far this season, and six of those dates have been rained out. They will give it three more tries this coming weekend however, with races scheduled for Hartford Speedway Park, Butler Motor Speedway, and South Buxton Raceway. All three events are sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions. Hartford kicks off the weekend on Friday night, while Butler serves as the Saturday night stop. Sunday will conclude the weekend of racing with a trip across the border into Canada and a visit to the South Buxton Raceway. Fans looking to purchase Wild Child memorabilia will have much to choose from this weekend, as the merchandise trailer will be at all three events. Look for it right beside the official All Star merchandise trailer each night! The new 30th Anniversary prints by John Davis III will be unveiled for the first time this weekend at well. They will be available for purchase in the merchandise trailer each night. This limited edition signed print is truly a work of art and is available for only $40.00! BUXTON ON MAY 23RD |
Source: Jeff Gotelaer Blenheim, Ont. May 4/2004 - The All Star Sprint Series race at the South Buxton Raceway on May 23rd gathers excitement as veteran sprint car driver Jac Haudenschild and Blenheim based performance parts giant Westside Performance Center have entered into an agreement for the Buxton event. Westside will be the primary sponsor for the car that Jac will drive for team owner Jamie Miller from Dayton, Ohio. Haudenschild also known as “The Wild Child” is ranked 16th in the 2003 World of Outlaws point standings, the 22nd straight year he has finished in the top 20. Jac also earned $200,000 for winning the inaugural Mopar Million non-winged sprint car race at Eldora Speedway last year and collected $100,000 for winning the inaugural "Historic Big One" at Eldora Speedway in 1993. During his World of Outlaws career Jac has won 39 "A" Features. NATIONALS THIS WEEKEND |
| Source: Jonathan Bateman The results may not show it, but Jamie Miller was very pleased with how Jac piloted the Ham Signs sprinter at Eldora, and equally pleased with the performance of the car. Many feel, if not for a collapsed front wing on Friday, Jac would have had a top five finish in what was the first race of the season for the Wooster driver. Add all of this to the fact that neither men have any long-term racing plans and it becomes easy to figure out why the team has decided to continue their racing adventure together for a few more weeks. Jac will wheel the Ham Signs / Sunset Meats / Double Jay Construction / Compressed Air Technologies #6 Maxim around the Attica Raceway Park this Friday and Saturday, competing in the two-day All Star Circuit of Champions Coors Light Spring Nationals. The team has also scheduled the April 23rd ASCoC race from Limaland Motorsports Park, and the April 24th event from Eldora Speedway. ---------------- --- While most know about the misfortunes of the front wing on Friday night at Eldora, many are not aware of the problem on Saturday night. A minor motor problem persisted through most of the evening, which resulted in the sluggish speed out on the track. Everything should be repaired and ready for Attica within the next two days however. --- The "Wingless Wild Child - Mopar Million" shirts will be on sale at Attica this weekend, along with some older shirt styles and merchandise. Look for it behind the grandstands... --- Photos from the annual Easter weekend WoO show and Attica Coors Nationals will be uploaded next week. |
| "ROUND
2" FROM ELDORA |
| Source: Jonathan Bateman April 5, 2004 What does last weekend's Eldora/USAC rainout mean to Jac Haudenschild and Jamie Miller? It means "put the wings back on and try it again!" The 'Jac and Jamie' show will return to Eldora this Friday and Saturday to race with the World of Outlaws on the half-mile highbanks. With the forecasted chilly temperatures for the weekend, horsepower will be very important. Miller will drop a fresh Campbell's Performance powerplant under the hood of the Ham Signs / Sunset Meats / Double Jay Construction / Compressed Air Technologies #6 Maxim sprint car to give the team its best chance of succeeding at the Big E. The team will also utilize Maxim Chassis and Hoosier tires. Hot laps start at 6:30 each night. Eldora Speedway is located on St Rte 118, two miles north of Rossburg. ---------------- --- Haudenschild's Mopar Million Champion T-shirts will be on sale at the track after the races for those fans that didn't get a chance to purchase one last September. --- The Wild Child finished 2nd in the last WoO race contested at Eldora (8/7/2003). He battled Jason Meyers down the backstretch on the final lap but fell a car length short after tapping the wall attempting to pass on the outside.

Saturday, he will get a chance to defend his spot in victory lane, when he takes on the stars of the Valvoline USAC sprint car series at the "Big E". The Wild Child will be piloting the Ham Signs sprinter for Vandalia's Jamie Miller. Although not a full-time ride, Haudenschild is excited to get back to the track and compete in what is expected to be a very large field of sprint cars. Weekend TidBits: --- Haudenschild's Mopar Million Champion T-shirts will be on sale at the track all evening for those fans that didn't get a chance to purchase one last September. --- The last driver to win the final Eldora USAC race of a season, and come back to win the opener the following season was Jack Hewitt in 1990 and 1991. --- Look for a photo of the new car to be posted later this week. |

UPDATE |
| Source: Jonathan Bateman Since the completion of the last race in 2003, Jac Haudenschild has been looking forward to the upcoming season with great optimism and hope......probably more so than ever before. The reason for the excitement? The Wild Child was offered a promising ride for the 2004 season - one which showed unlimited potential for success. Unfortunately, those levels of excitement took a hard hit last week as Haudenschild learned that the deal fell through. He was informed the car owner would be unable to go racing this season, thus leaving him back at square one again. While time is certainly a factor at this stage in the game, Haudenschild remains upbeat and is once again working at landing a secure ride for the 2004 season. Please stay tuned to Haudenschild Racing Online for all the latest news regarding the new season. |

YEAR IN REVIEW |
| Source: Jonathan Bateman The year 2003 will soon be just a memory as New Years Eve and 2004 is right around the corner. Before the current year passes us by, we take a look back at what was the 30th season of competition for Jac Haudenschild… Variety. That single word could be used to describe the 2003 season for Jac Haudenschild. There was variety in racing results, which stretched from victories to DNF’s. Variety in racing associations on the schedule ranged from the World of Outlaws to the SCRA. Variety in sprint cars ranged from wing to nonwing. On the topic of results, Haudenschild suffered through several DNF’s throughout the season; many of which occurred because of unlucky mechanical woes. All the struggles and frustrations were tossed out the window however, on a cool September night in western Ohio. The Wild Child conquered the field of 138 sprint cars at the Mopar Million and took home the largest prize in sprint car history. Another satisfying nonwing win came on the preliminary night of the Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway. When speaking of racing associations, Haudenschild raced with many of the nation’s top 410ci sprint car organizations in 2003. While primarily competing with the World of Outlaws Series, the Wild Child also raced with USAC, SCRA, and even the NWWC. So, what are some of the memories that stick out in 2003? Here are three that will be remembered by attending fans for years to come… Tough break of the year: While battling Joey Saldana for the lead in the World of Outlaws race at Grays Harbor Raceway Park on August 23rd, a bolt sheared off the left front shock and sent Haudenschild into a series of nasty flips less than 10 laps from the finish. Move of the year: It was the Kings Royal B-main where the Wild Child fearlessly blitzed the field and went last to first in just 11 laps, then pulled away to win by over a straightaway. That race could very well be one of the most amazing performances in Haudenschild’s 30-year career. Race of the year: Easy choice here…The Mopar Million. Victory in the largest paying sprint car race in history; at one of the world’s most notable dirt tracks; against many of the nation’s greatest sprint car drivers…. all on national television. Simply put, it was a dream come true. Finally, we would like to close 2003 by passing on thanks to some of the companies and individuals that have helped or contributed to the success of Haudenschild Racing this season. Special thanks go out to Jack & Carol Elden, Kears Speed Shop, Wirtgen, Simpson, Maxim, Shift, Hoosier, Butlerbuilt, Goodridge, Wilwood Racing, MPD Racing, Weld Racing, Fisher Motors, Steve Mox Trucking, C & R Radiators, Fuel Safe, Rod End Supply, Pro Shocks, Goodyear, MPD Hand Controls, Briggs Composite, Racewear, Winters Performance, and Winning Enterprises. Special thanks also go out to Mopar, USAC, the World of Outlaws, SCRA, Guy Forbrook, Steve Chrisman, Larry Woodward, Earl Baltes, Ralph Capitani, Fred Brownfield, Craig McCormick, Bob Jones, John Padjen, Stu Murray, Dave Blaney, Kazarians, SCN Radio, Hoseheads, Sprint Car & Midget Magazine, Flatout, TJ Slideways, National Speed Sport News, Doc Lehman, MSPN, Ken Coles, Joe Orth Photos, and Speed Graphics. (For those inquiring about 2004 plans, please be patient. As soon as any plans become finalized, news will be released via Haudenschild Racing Online). |
| SILLY
SEASON COLLECTS THE WILD CHILD |
Source: Jonathan Bateman As if the sprint car “Silly Season” didn’t have enough confusion already – it just collected another driver this week. Jac Haudenschild and the Woodward Racing team have parted ways and will not race together in the 2004 season. While the team’s 2003 goal of winning the Mopar Million was accomplished, both sides appeared to have different objectives for the upcoming 2004 season. Haudenschild favored the idea of keeping the team based in Ohio this winter – in an effort to work with and prepare the cars for a possible World of Outlaws title run in 2004. Woodward Racing however, preferred to move the team to the west coast following the conclusion of the 2003 season. Despite their differences at the end of the season, Haudenschild expressed much thanks to Larry Woodward. Together, the two men helped each other accomplish their goal of winning the biggest race in the history of sprint car racing. Without doubt, it was a win that will never be forgotten! Car owners and drivers alike are now patiently waiting on news out of the O’Reilly World of Outlaws camp regarding possible changes within the organization. That will equally be the case for the Wild Child as well. Once that happens however, Haudenschild will weigh all of his options and put together a plan for the 2004 season. Stay tuned to HaudenschildRacing.com for all the latest updates regarding the 2004 season. |

JAC HAUDENSCHILD: MAKING HISTORY |
Source: Doc Lehman / DirtAmericaOnline.com Seeing Jac Haudenschild stroll into a restaurant last Sunday on his way to a radio remote, eight days removed from winning Sprint Car racing’s biggest paying race, one didn’t so much get the sense that he was the “Wild Child” as much as he was the “family man” that early evening. But the smile and thrill of victory was still evident on the extremely popular and highly talented Sprint Car racer. Winning the MOPAR MILLION at Eldora Speedway was big. Real big. But Haudenschild is used to doing things in a big way. He won the very first HISTORICAL BIG ONE at Earl Baltes’ playground and had racked up three KINGS ROYALE wins, among a multitude of other high profile victories. But one finds Haudenschild the same as he always has been, unflappable, cool, always on an even keel, despite his moniker. “That was a great race for us to win,” offered Haudenschild on winning the MOPAR MILLION. “We we’ve been kind of struggling all year, been up and down all year and haven’t won a race all year. That was our first one so we picked the right one to win.” Having raced at Eldora for most of his 28 year career, Haudenschild was asked if he had any reservations about qualifying well at Eldora in a non-winged car. “I knew it would be tough to get qualified because the track was really, really slick and hard to get a hold of,” recalled Haudenschild. “We got a half decent number for the first set of qualifying so we had a decent race track. I think we qualified fifth fastest so we were pretty happy with the qualifying time.” “We watched Dean Jacobs time really good and then (Rob) Chaney and then Tyler Walker went out and put on an awesome qualifying lap.” Having left the Guy Forbrook ride earlier, Haudenschild has now found a home aboard Larry Woodward’s #4. Woodward is a past car owner in the CRA, SCRA and USAC. Equipment consists of Maxim Chassis, Charlie Fisher Racing Engines and Hoosier Racing Tires. Mike Thurman is serving as crew chief with Rodney Tiner, Jr., on board as a crewmember. Sponsorship comes from RaceToHawaii.Com. “My car owner is Larry Woodward, he’s from out in California and he just came into it,” explained Haudenschild. “He used to race years ago and then came back into it and wanted to go racing so he called me up and wanted to go racing so we just put it together. It took us about two and a half months.” “My car owner’s business is in Hawaii, he owns a tire, brake and muffler business and he’s just trying to get a deal going over there for them (State of Hawaii) to sponsor him.” “He’s got me what it takes to go racing and he bought us Charlie Fisher motors. We started out with two motors and we have three motors now. He bought us two racecars and enough stuff to go racing and that’s all we needed.” Having been at Sprint Car racing since 1975, Haudenschild was asked if during his formative years did he ever wonder if he would end of racing for a living when he first started running with his brother, Ed, and buddies Kenny Jacobs and Brad Doty. “Well, we never really thought of making a living doing it,” commented Haudenschild. “We just started out doing it for the fun of it and we just started racing all around Ohio and then we started to traveling to Florida or wherever we had to go to go racing. We got better rides and better rides, but back then we never really thought about making a career out of it.” “My brother started a couple years before I did so I had to watch him for a couple years and that was tough to do. But he started before me and then we met Kenny up at Wayne County and then Brad was always our buddy and he got in a racecar and we finally all ended up racing together.” As for racing today, Haudenschild still loves it, although he isn’t too crazy about some changes, most importantly the recently instituted weight rule. “I don’t like it at all,” stated Haudenschild. “My car that I have now is like a car that I ran ten years ago, like a big old tank and you can feel it on the track. The weight rule has slowed them down and made them feel lazy. The weight rule is not quite as bad without a wing. We put on 80 to 100 pounds that we have to bolt on. The cars were safe before they added the weight rule. They were pretty safe.” He has also always been comfortable in both winged and non-winged cars, and enjoys taking the lid off, but has no complaints with the wings. “When I was younger it never mattered to me, with or without the wing,” said Haudenschild, 44. “But now, it’d be tough to run a 100 races a year without the wing because you dump them things, they dump hard and they sting! They’re fun to race. They both have their own unique way.” “This year I ran non-wing six times. I probably ran 60 winged races. We still got a lot of racing in this year.” One thing significant to the Haudenschild family, and to racing too, is the fact that the night before Jac Haudenschild go to watch his oldest son, Justin, turn his first competitive laps in a Sprint Car at Lakeville Speedway, finishing 11th in his very first feature race on September 27. Having only previously turned a couple dozen laps during a practice day at Wayne County Speedway, Justin Haudenschild, on his 17th birthday, became the third generation of the Haudenschild family to strap into a Sprint Car, following in the footsteps of his father, Jac, uncle, Ed, and grandfather John Haudenschild, one of central Ohio’s toughest racers in the 1960’s. “My kid Justin just turned 17 and he wanted to give this a try so I took him down to where I started out racing and he raced this past weekend down at Lakeville Speedway,” related Haudenschild, who is married to Patti. “He looked pretty good! It was a lot of fun.” Jac and Patti have two other children, Sheldon and Raquel. Sheldon Haudenschild is a moto-cross racer and is so talented that he won the very first time he entered competition. Recently he was injured during a moto-cross meet at the Ashland County Fairgrounds but has rebounded. “He’s doing all right,” confirmed Haudenschild. “He sprained his ankle a little bit and it was a scare there, but he’s doing good and ready to go racing again.” “He’s pretty fast. We race indoor mot-cross all winter at Marion and Summit County and he’s got quite a few wins under his belt now and he runs hard. I’m just busy with my three kids all the time. Raquel is into horses and I had to buy a horse trailer the other day so it’s just one thing after another.” As soon as the season is done, it will be time to devote full energies to the family and begin to think about 2004. “I’m going to race right up ‘til the end of the year,” said Haudenschild. “We’ll probably go out and run that big non-wing race at Perris and that’ll be it for me then I’ll have my son racing at the indoor deals this winter.” And then once 2004 rolls along, it’ll be back on the road for more wins and perhaps some more history-making wins. |

JAC HAUDENSCHILD: MAKING HISTORY
Source: Doc Lehman / DirtAmericaOnline.com Seeing Jac Haudenschild stroll into a restaurant last Sunday on his way to a radio remote, eight days removed from winning Sprint Car racings biggest paying race, one didnt so much get the sense that he was the Wild Child as much as he was the family man that early evening. But the smile and thrill of victory was still evident on the extremely popular and highly talented Sprint Car racer. Winning the MOPAR MILLION at Eldora Speedway was big. Real big. But Haudenschild is used to doing things in a big way. He won the very first HISTORICAL BIG ONE at Earl Baltes playground and had racked up three KINGS ROYALE wins, among a multitude of other high profile victories. But one finds Haudenschild the same as he always has been, unflappable, cool, always on an even keel, despite his moniker. That was a great race for us to win, offered Haudenschild on winning the MOPAR MILLION. We weve been kind of struggling all year, been up and down all year and havent won a race all year. That was our first one so we picked the right one to win. Having raced at Eldora for most of his 28 year career, Haudenschild was asked if he had any reservations about qualifying well at Eldora in a non-winged car. I knew it would be tough to get qualified because the track was really, really slick and hard to get a hold of, recalled Haudenschild. We got a half decent number for the first set of qualifying so we had a decent race track. I think we qualified fifth fastest so we were pretty happy with the qualifying time. We watched Dean Jacobs time really good and then (Rob) Chaney and then Tyler Walker went out and put on an awesome qualifying lap. Having left the Guy Forbrook ride earlier, Haudenschild has now found a home aboard Larry Woodwards #4. My car owner is Larry Woodward, hes from out in California and he just came into it, explained Haudenschild. He used to race years ago and then came back into it and wanted to go racing so he called me up and wanted to go racing so we just put it together. It took us about two and a half months. My car owners business is in Hawaii, he owns a tire, brake and muffler business and hes just trying to get a deal going over there for them (State of Hawaii) to sponsor him. Hes got me what it takes to go racing and he bought us Charlie Fisher motors. We started out with two motors and we have three motors now. He bought us two racecars and enough stuff to go racing and thats all we needed. Having been at Sprint Car racing since 1975, Haudenschild was asked if during his formative years did he ever wonder if he would end of racing for a living when he first started running with his brother, Ed, and buddies Kenny Jacobs and Brad Doty. Well, we never really thought of making a living doing it, commented Haudenschild. We just started out doing it for the fun of it and we just started racing all around Ohio and then we started to traveling to Florida or wherever we had to go to go racing. We got better rides and better rides, but back then we never really thought about making a career out of it. My brother started a couple years before I did so I had to watch him for a couple years and that was tough to do. But he started before me and then we met Kenny up at Wayne County and then Brad was always our buddy and he got in a racecar and we finally all ended up racing together. As for racing today, Haudenschild still loves it, although he isnt too crazy about some changes, most importantly the recently instituted weight rule. I dont like it at all, stated Haudenschild. My car that I have now is like a car that I ran ten years ago, like a big old tank and you can feel it on the track. The weight rule has slowed them down and made them feel lazy. The weight rule is not quite as bad without a wing. We put on 80 to 100 pounds that we have to bolt on. The cars were safe before they added the weight rule. They were pretty safe. He has also always been comfortable in both winged and non-winged cars, and enjoys taking the lid off, but has no complaints with the wings. When I was younger it never mattered to me, with or without the wing, said Haudenschild, 44. But now, itd be tough to run a 100 races a year without the wing because you dump them things, they dump hard and they sting! Theyre fun to race. They both have their own unique way. This year I ran non-wing six times. I probably ran 60 winged races. We still got a lot of racing in this year. One thing significant to the Haudenschild family, and to racing too, is the fact that the night before Jac Haudenschild go to watch his oldest son, Justin, turn his first competitive laps in a Sprint Car at Lakeville Speedway, finishing 11th in his very first feature race on September 27. Having only previously turned a couple dozen laps during a practice day at Wayne County Speedway, Justin Haudenschild, on his 17th birthday, became the third generation of the Haudenschild family to strap into a Sprint Car, following in the footsteps of his father, Jac, uncle, Ed, and grandfather John Haudenschild, one of central Ohios toughest racers in the 1960s. My kid Justin just turned 17 and he wanted to give this a try so I took him down to where I started out racing and he raced this past weekend down at Lakeville Speedway, related Haudenschild, who is married to Patti. He looked pretty good! It was a lot of fun. Jac and Patti have two other children, Sheldon and Raquel. Sheldon Haudenschild is a moto-cross racer and is so talented that he won the very first time he entered competition. Recently he was injured during a moto-cross meet at the Ashland County Fairgrounds but has rebounded. Hes doing all right, confirmed Haudenschild. He sprained his ankle a little bit and it was a scare there, but hes doing good and ready to go racing again. Hes pretty fast. We race indoor mot-cross all winter at Marion and Summit County and hes got quite a few wins under his belt now and he runs hard. Im just busy with my three kids all the time. Raquel is into horses and I had to buy a horse trailer the other day so its just one thing after another. As soon as the season is done, it will be time to devote full energies to the family and begin to think about 2004. Im going to race right up til the end of the year, said Haudenschild. Well probably go out and run that big non-wing race at Perris and thatll be it for me then Ill have my son racing at the indoor deals this winter. And then once 2004 rolls along, itll be back on the road for more wins and perhaps some more history-making wins. |

WILD CHILD TAKES BIGGEST PAYOFF IN SPRINT HISTORY
Source - USACracing.com His run to the front wasn't easy. He had to hold off some of sprint car racing's best to claim victory. But Jac Haudenschild's knowledge and experience at Eldora Speedway payed off in a big way, literally, as the 45-year-old won Saturday's 40-lap "Mopar Million Sprint at Eldora" in Rossburg, Ohio. Haudenschild took the lead on lap 31 of the event and led the final 10 laps for the win and a $200,000 paycheck for the final USAC Special Sprint Car Series race of the season. "This is unbelievable," said Haudenschild after the historic victory. "I can't believe we won the race. I have to wait for it to sink in. This might just top them all." Starting sixth, Haudenschild waited to come to the front. Russ Gamester took the lead from polesitter Brad Noffsinger on the high side of turn one. Dean Jacobs, who started third, followed Gamester and took the lead on the inside of turn four. Haudenschild jumped to fourth by lap three and took third on lap four, then began a serious challenge for second with Gamester. The duo battled side-by-side coming through the turns, with Haudenschild taking the lead on the outside of turn two and Gamester going back to second on the inside of lap four. The "Wild Child" took the runner-up position on lap 14. Meanwhile, Dickie Gaines continued his charge to the front. Gaines, who started in 15th, joined the top five by lap four and passed Haudenschild on lap 18. He then slid under Gamester and Jacobs in turn one, going from third to first, as the trio approached lapped traffic. The first caution that interrupted action occurred in a four-car pileup on lap 25, as Dave Darland, Jon Stanbrough, Brian Tyler and Jim Stinson collided in turn four. Tyler and Stinson retired from competition during the cleanup. The race reverted by to 24 laps completed. Gaines got a great jump on the restart, while Haudenschild closed after passing Noffsinger and Stevie Smith going to third. Four laps later, Bud Kaeding hit the turn four wall, bringing out the event's second caution. Kaeding was uninjured in the incident. On the lap 30 restart, Haudenschild stayed right with Gaines and passed the Mitchell, Ind. native on the outside of turn two. Gaines lost second to Smith on lap 31, while J.J. Yeley came to fourth on the same lap. Haudenschild started pulling away but said he became loose during the final five laps. He changed his groove, using the low line for the final five laps, allowing Smith to close. Smith got within three car lengths in the second turn on the final lap and closed within a car length at the end of the backstretch. He slid to the inside of Haudenschild in the final turn, but came up half a car length short of victory. Gaines, Yeley and Rob Chaney rounded out the top five. "This one means a lot," Haudenschild said. "Being a non-winged race, it was neat to run with these guys. I haven't run a lot with these guys a lot over the last few years. We definitely wanted to win this race, so this is great." The next USAC National Sprint Car Series race will be Oct. 4 at the Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Ind. |

MOPAR MILLION IS NEXT / SCHEDULE EXPANDED
September 15 - The biggest weekend of the year looms just over the horizon for Jac Haudenschild and the Woodward Racing team, as the Mopar Million Sprint at Eldora awaits the Wild Child and 149 other entrants. The team will use the next two days to double-check everything on the car, before departing for Eldora Speedway on Thursday. Following what Haudenschild hopes is a successful Eldora weekend; the team will catch back up to the World of Outlaws at the Port Royal Speedway on October 2nd. They will then follow the WoO from Port Royal all the way to the season finale in Las Vegas. Stops in between include Williams Grove, Bridgeport, Texas Motor Speedway, Delta Bowl, and Lone Star Speedway. The team is tentatively scheduled to finish out the 2003 season at the Perris Auto Speedway over the weekend of November 13-15, with the running of the $30,000 to-win NWWC Oval Nationals. Stay tuned to Haudenschild Racing Online for more updates as we head down the stretch run of the 03 season. |

A LOOK BACK AT NATIONALS WEEK
August 24th - The two-week period of the HBO and Knoxville Nationals are two of the most hectic weeks for race teams, and it was no different this year. Here is a brief look back at climax to the month of money.... ------------------------------------- Aug 8: Jac finished 2nd in the WoO feature at Eldora. Attempted to pass Jason Meyers for the lead on the last lap, but tagged the wall and was forced to ride home in second. The wall smack on the last lap broke the front end of the frame. Nothing major, but still something that would require attention before racing on Saturday. Aug 9: The team started working on the car bright and early on Saturday. They welded the frame back together and finished regular maintenance on the sprint by 2:00. A quick lunch and the hauler was headed back to Eldora for the HBO.... Jac again had a fast car on Saturday night; unfortunately, the throttle linkage broke on the car while running 5th in the feature event. A very disappointed Haudenschild was forced to pull in and watch the remainder of the race from the pit area. Aug 10: The team left the Eldora grounds around 1:00 in the morning and started the big trip to Knoxville. The hauler got to the Illinois border before pulling over to sleep for the night. The rest of the trip was finished on Sunday and the Race To Hawaii transporter pulled into Knoxville around 7:00 on Sunday evening. A quick run through the car wash was next, before parking the hauler outside of turn three for the week. Aug 11: Big day of work as Mike and crew prepared the nonwing car for the Tuesday show at Oskaloosa. The conversion from wing to nonwing was finally finished around 8:00 Monday night. Some members of the team hit the road and went over to watch the last half of the Front Row Challenge, while others hit the pillow and got some extra sleep in the campgrounds. Aug 12: Race day #1. The team pulled out of Knoxville and took the short jog over to Oskaloosa just after lunch. Jac had a fast car all night and ended up running 5th against the best in the nonwing business. The night would be overshadowed however, by the passing of Keith Hutton, one of the nicest people Knoxville had to offer. RIP Keith... Aug 13: Another day of working on the cars, as the nonwing car was converted to a winged car; to be used as a backup car for the Nationals. Charlie Fisher helped Mike tweak the motors and get everything set-up for Thursday. Aug 14: Race day #2. Not the best night of racing for the Woodward team, but spirits are high as everyone knows the car is fast and will be tough in the B-main on Saturday. Aug 15: Race day #3. Jac was caught up in the big accident on the first lap, and that would ultimately end his run. The crew did an awesome job of repairing the car and getting it back out for the restart, but mechanical failure would force the Wild Child out of the race around the midway point. Aug 16: And the cycle begins all over again, with the next road trip to the races... The crew left Knoxville and immediately began the drive to Washington for the two day show at Elma on the 22nd and 23rd. |

BIG WEEK STARTS AT ELDORA
August 8 - The month of money kicks into high gear this weekend at Eldora Speedway, and will continue on to the Knoxville Raceway next week. Jac and the Woodward Racing team will be in action at Eldora on Friday with the O'Reilly World of Outlaws, and will return on Saturday for the $100,000-to-win Historical Big One. The Wild Child was the inaugral winner of the HBO back in 1993. The team will head west directly after the Saturday show at Eldora and begin the trek to Iowa. As it stands now, Jac will only be racing in the nonwing Ultimate Challenge on Tuesday at Oskaloosa. The team would love to race the Front Row Challenge as well, but they are going to need Monday to regroup and prepare the winged car for the Knoxville Nationals. Jac will qualify the Woodward Racing #4 at Knoxville on Thursday night, meaning it is possible he will race three consecutive nights on the Marion County Fairgrounds oval. With more than $300,000 in prize money available and three very prestigious races coming up over the next week, you can rest assured the team is pumped up and ready hit the road. The Haudenschild Racing Online camera will be at every show over the next week, so be sure to check back after Knoxville for lots of photos! |
SCHEDULE CHANGE
July 27 - Jac and the Woodward Racing team have made a couple of changes to the schedule for the upcoming week of competition. In order to create more time to work on the car and team, they have decided to drop the July 29th Jack Hewitt Challenge from the schedule. However, the KC Raceway WoO show has been added for July 31st. The team will also be in competition at Dave Blaney's Sharon Speedway on July 30th. |
BRAD DOTY CLASSIC
July 17 - Jac and the team finished the car in time for the race at Attica last evening. After qualifying 9th quick, the Wild Child encountered a few problems in his heat. The fuel line began leaking and started spraying Jac in the cockpit. He was forced to stop on the track and jump out of the car, as his driver suit started melting. He was forced to use a provisional (fastest qualifier not making the feature field) and started 25th in the feature. Jac was on the hammer in the main and charged his way up to 8th place by the fall of the checkers. The team was happy with the finish, and equally happy they got the chance to work the bugs out of the new car. Check back for lots of news, results, and photos from Eldora Speedway this weekend! |

THE JAC ATTACK IS BACK!
WOOSTER, OHIO (July 11) - Race fans havent seen Jac Haudenschild on the racetrack in nearly one month, but there is very good reason for that. The Wooster, Ohio, driver has spent the past three weeks working with California businessman Larry Woodward, putting the finishing touches on a new race team. Woodward is a past car owner in the CRA, SCRA, and USAC ranks, and is very excited to get involved with the Wild Child. Spinning the wrenches on the new team will be Missouri native Mike Thurman. Thurman comes aboard after spending the first half of 2003 with Jonathan Allard. Also joining the Woodward Racing team will be Rodney Tiner, Jr. Tiner, a California native, will assist Thurman with crew duties on the #4 Maxim. The team, which makes its debut in less than one week, will be utilizing Fisher Engines, Maxim Chassis, Weld Wheels, and Hoosier Tires. RaceToHawaii.Com will be the teams major sponsor. Race To Hawaii is a business endeavor by Woodward. More information on that sponsorship will be available at a later date. Special thanks must go out to Dave Brzozowski, crew chief for Paul Tracy and Patrick Carpentier of the Players/Forsythe Racing team. Brzozowski, being good friends with both Woodward and Haudenschild, is actually the one who persuaded the two men into forming a new team. (Brzozowski and Haudenschild became acquainted back when Jac ran the Pennzoil sponsored sprint car. At that same time, Dave worked with the Pennzoil CART team). Sticking to the term true outlaw, Haudenschild and company will spend the remainder of the 2003 season chasing the big money races. Provided that the cars are completed by Wednesday, the team will debut at the $15,000-to-win Brad Doty Classic. If the cars cannot be finished by Wednesday, the Wild Child will make his debut in the #4 on Friday at Eldora Speedway. Stay tuned to Haudenschild Racing Online for all the latest news regarding this exciting, new adventure! |

Lawrenceburg in the Plans for this Weekend
May 30 - Jac will be racing twice this weekend, however, it won't be with the wing... The Wild Child will be racing with the USAC sprint car series at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday and Sunday. He will be piloting the #25 Stealth owned by Steve Chrisman. With the Mopar Million coming up later this year, every nonwing race will help serve as a tune-up for the historical event. For race and ticket information regarding this weekend, visit Lawrenceburg Speedway Online. We hope to see you there! |
Haudenschild to Drive for Stan Courtad This Weekend
May 23 - Jac will be racing for Stan Courtad at Eldora Speedway this Sunday night in the USAC non-wing show. Courtad will field two cars for the event, with Rob Chaney driving the second machine. With only two non-wing shows left on the Eldora schedule before the Mopar Sprint Million in September, Jac is excited to be getting a chance to tune-up without the wing. Gates open at 4:30 on Sunday. We hope to see you there! UPDATE: The SC Racing team was unable to get the second car finished in time for Sunday night at Eldora, so Jac was not able to race in the event. |
Haudenschild Steps Down as Driver of the #5
The May 21st O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series event at the Lernerville Speedway marked the last race that Jac Haudenschild will be driving the #5 sprint car for Forbrook Motorsports. |
Midweek Update
5/14/03: Due to the recent poor finishes and struggles with the tires, Jac and the Forbrook Motorsports team have slid backwards in the World of Outlaws point's hunt, and no longer stand as a threat for the 2003 championship. Due to that fact, the team skipped the Delaware International Speedway event on Tuesday to regroup and save itself the grueling trip to the eastern coast of the United States. Crisscrossing the country trying to attend every regular WoO show just makes no financial sense if already out of the points hunt. Looking on the bright side, Jac made a decision before the season started that if he was not in true contention for the WoO point's championship, he was going to run the Mopar Million at Eldora Speedway. Sitting 8th in points, he realizes he is out of true contention, but he can now look forward to participating in the historic event scheduled for September 20th at the Big E! Looking into the near future, the team will rejoin the World of Outlaws this Thursday at Williams Grove Speedway. Stay tuned to the website as any changes to the schedule will be posted here as soon as they happen. |
Wet Weather
5/10/03: Mother Nature was the big winner this week in the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series, as rain claimed two of the four events single day events on the tour. Oddly enough, both events in Indiana were completed, while both Illinois events were washed out. Officials have announced the Tri City event, originally scheduled for tonight, will be run on June 22nd. The Farmer City event, originally scheduled for May 8th, will be run on June 23rd. This rescheduling means the series will run four consecutive days at four different tracks June 20-23. Goodyear was at the Talledega Short Track testing a new tire compound this past week. The track was very wet from recent rains around the area so conditions were not the same as when the WoO previously raced there, but some promising laps were turned, given the particular situation. Lawrenceburg marked the return of the Mopar motor for the Forbrook team. It looks as if the kinks have been worked out and eveything is running smoothly under the hood. Photos from Lawrenceburg and Terre Haute will be posted later this weekend, so be sure to check back... |
Midweek Update
5/4/03: Action packed week lies ahead... Lawrenceburg on Tuesday, Farmer City on Thursday, Terre Haute on Friday, and Granite City on Saturday... -- The Wirtgen America / MPD Hand Controls maxim lost power in the NRP feature on Friday. The team put another Gaerte 'chevy' under the hood for Saturday, as the Mopar motors are still being worked on. -- Jac currently sits 4th among drivers in the "Hard Charger" category for the year. He has passed a total of 66 cars, which is 22 behind leader Donny Schatz. Obviously Jac would much rather like to start up front in these events, but the tires make that nearly impossible (through poor qualifying times). He makes the most of his chances however and that shows through the amount of cars he's passed in the 22 feature races so far this season. -- Tuesdays race at Lawrenceburg marks the first of nine races the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series will sanction over the next 13 days, making it the busiest two week period of the entire season. |
Midweek Update
4/23/03: News and notes as the team heads for Knoxville this weekend.... -- Jac said the car was definitely hooked up last night in the feature at Powercom. After starting 18th, he shot his way up 9th in just just 10 laps. He also said if he hadn't got loose and allowed 5 cars to pass him during the middle of race, he very well could have brought home the victory. He still managed to climb back up to 4th by races end however. -- The team is currently back to running the 'Chevy' motors right now. The three Mopar motors had to be sent back to the shop to have some problems on them fixed. There is no time table for the return of the Mopar bullets. -- Patty will be in Knoxville with a complete selection of merchandise and memorabilia again this weekend, so be sure to stop down and say hello to her! -- It's time to clean out the merchandise closet from last year, and that means your chance to win free prizes! Trivia contests will be begin in the next week, so stay tuned... |
Midweek Update
4/14/03: Just a few notes as we head towards the Eldora Easter weekend show... -- The team, although very frustrated right now, knows a big weekend lies ahead. Jac has always been very successful at Eldora, so as you can imagine, he is really looking forward to racing this weekend. The Goodyears, even in their current state, have tended to perform well at Eldora. That is an encouraging thought, especially since a $12,000 prize awaits the Saturday winner. -- Be sure to check out the new "American Outlaw" shirt on the merchandise page. Patty will have these new shirts at Eldora this weekend, so be sure to stop by and pick one up if you like what you see! -- We were informed last weekend that the big World of Outlaws souvenir trailer will not be at Eldora on the 18th and 19th. It is getting a new paint job, which will sport the O'Reilly colors. As a result, you will not find any Wild Child merchandise in turn one at the racetrack, as you normally would. Feel free, however, to head over to the Wirtgen/MPD trailer anytime while at the racetrack this weekend to pick up all your Wild Child favorites. Patty will have a full stock of all merchandise on hand with her all weekend. (There is only one support division on the card this weekend, so there is a good chance all the teams will be be available to the fans after the races). |

Haudenschild Looking Forward to April Schedule
WOOSTER, Ohio (April 8) -- Glancing at the remaining races on the OReilly World of Outlaws schedule for the month of April will make any Jac Haudenschild fan smile. In fact, it has Haudenschild himself, smiling. You know, Ive always liked racing at some of these tracks coming up on our schedule. Ive had a lot of success at them in the past, so I always enjoy going back, commented Haudenschild.
To begin, the series makes stops at Sedalias State Fair Speedway and I-55 Speedway this weekend. I-55 has been home to numerous Wild Child victories, including his famous spin-n-win in 1999. He also has official WoO wins at the track in 2000 and 2002.
From there, Haudenschild and the Forbrook Motorsports team will travel east to Eldora Speedway for the WoO Easter weekend show. Eldora has been the site of some of Haudenschilds biggest accomplishments during his career. Along with his three Kings Royal crowns, he also has the 1993 Historical Big One victory to his credit. His style of riding the high side around the southwestern Ohio speedplant makes him a threat to win each time he rolls onto the Ohio clay.
The Raceway at Powercom Park will be the next stop on Haudenschilds busy schedule. The WoO will make a one-day stop at the Beaver Dam, Wisconsin racetrack on April 22nd. Haudenschild last won at Powercom during the 1998 season. Donny Schatz, Mark Kinser, and Dave Blaney join Haudenschild as the only drivers to earn a WoO feature win at Powercom Park.
Finishing out the month will be the Spring Classic at the legendary Knoxville Raceway on April 25 and 26. The Wild Child reeled of five straight wins at Knoxville during the 1998 season. Add in Guy Forbrooks expertise on car setup at Knoxville, and the Wirgten America, MPD Hand Controls, Mopar powered #5 is a definite threat to win each time the car hits the Iowa track.
Weve been struggling some lately, particularly with the tires. Im confident though, we can get that problem taken care of and get back on track," continued Haudenschild. "And what better time to start than with these races coming up towards the latter part of April." If you arent able to make it to the track to watch the upcoming races, you can tune in to SCN radio to listen live from Sedalia, Eldora, and Knoxville. Midweek Update
4/2/03: Jac arrived at the East Alabama Motor Speedway today. There's not much action going on around the facility during the week, but he did have a chance to check out the track this afternoon. He said the track looks to be 3/8 or a small half mile in length. The surface is made of red clay, with what appears to be some sand mixed in. The track has a decent amount of banking to it, which excites Jac, as he loves to race the high banked speedplants. Friday will mark the first ever World of Outlaws visit to the Alabama track. |

New Additions
3/27/03: If you haven't visited the website lately, be sure to check out some of the old pages. A new page of Photos were added this week. This page contains pictures from Jac's trophy room, where he stores all of his awards and uniforms. Also new to the site this week is desktop wallpaper for your computer. Three new designs were added: a 30 year graphic logo, an action shot of the car, and a patriotic design. Those are listed on the Fun Stuff page. A 'news and notes' section was added to the chart on the Results page as well. This will allow you to go back and view notes from any previous race this season. Yet to come on the website is another page of new photos, listing of a few new merchandise items, and the kick-off to the trivia contest for 2003. Jac and the team are excited about the upcoming weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway. Despite their 12th place finish at Houston last Saturday, Jac feels confident they found a good setup that the team can work with throughout the rest of the season. Both nights of racing action will be broadcast on Sprint Car Net online radio. These two events will be free of charge, so be sure to dial up SCN on your internet and check out the coverage before it goes to pay per listen. Complete results and notes from the Texas weekend will be posted here on Sunday afternoon, so be sure to check back for all the latest news from on the road. |

Let's Go Racing!
2/21/03: Despite much of the country being covered in snow this week, it's time to go sprint car racing! The O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series kicks off the 2003 season in sunny Hanford, California, this evening. It took Jac a little longer than usual to make the trip out west this week, but surprisingly it wasn't a problem on the road that slowed him down. The problems came in his very own driveway! Due to all the snow that fell across Ohio last weekend, Jac needed the help of tow truck just to get the motorhome out of the lane. However, it's been smooth sailing since then and the Forbrook Motorsports team is ready to rock and roll at Kings Speedway tonight. There will not be any live updating or internet radio for this weekends races, but results and notes will posted here at the conclusion of each night of racing. Web News and Notes: --Crew info has been added to the Fast Facts page. You can also find a 30 year history chart about Jac on the page as well. Be sure to take a look. --Merchandise is being added to the site every week, so make sure you come back to take a peak at the new lines of apparel. As requested, we will be carrying new items this year such as beanies, hooded sweatshirts, and mouse pads. As always, if you have questions or requests, feel free to email Patty. --As you've seen on the front page, a new online poll box has been added. If you have a idea you feel would make for a good poll question, just email it here. With a little luck, you may find it as an official poll question later in the season! --Keep your eye open for new contests and games this year. We're always looking for ways to give away some Wild Child goodies, and we think you'll like what's on tap for 2003. Headlining the games will be the traditional trivia question contest. We'll also have some special contests designed just for you kids out there, so make sure you continue to check back for more news about that! ----------------------------------------------- With all of that said, let me now just welcome you aboard for the 30th anniversary tour. It's great to have you along for the new season. Make sure you grab a seat and hold on, because it's going to be an exciting ride! |

Elbows Up! Cover Story: Wild Child...30 Years of
Jac Haudenschild
January 22, 2003 Jac Haudenschild still looks young, and he says he still feels young.
Fact is at age 44 he still is, but this season the popular Ohio sprint-car
driver known to many as the Wild Child, will celebrate his 30th anniversary
driving sprint cars. |

Jac and Guy Ready to Roll With Outlaws
January 22, 2003 HARRISBURG, N.C. -- One of sprint-car racing's most popular drivers will be back on the track this season for his 30th year in the sport. Jac Haudenschild plans to run the full World of Outlaws schedule, driving for team owner and crew chief Guy Forbrook for whom he raced last year. However, it was only in the last two weeks the pair finalized the deal for Haudenschild to drive Forbrook's familiar No. 5. "We ran together all last year, and we both wanted to run the Outlaws again this year, so we decided to join together again," Haudenschild told NSSN during a Friday interview for an upcoming feature in Elbows Up! "I didn't know what I was going to do. We didn't know if we were going to run the Outlaws or not, and we decided to run just a couple weeks ago." It is at least the fourth time the pair has worked together during their respective careers. "I like driving for Guy. His cars are always fast and he always has good stuff," Haudenschild said. "We get along good. He called me up to run, and I said, 'no problem.'" The team won three World of Outlaws races last season, but many felt it would have fared better had Forbrook, a Goodyear loyalist, changed tire brands. Haudenschild said the team, which will have sponsorship from Wirtgen and Mopar, will continue on Goodyears this season. "I talked to Guy about that, and he said we are going to run the Goodyears," Haudenschild said. "He (Forbrook) said we are going to run them. They've been working with those tires a lot trying to improve them. We'll see what happens, and just take it from there." Haudenschild, who started his career racing non-winged sprint cars, and has won both The King's Royal and The Historical Big One at Eldora Speedway, said he would love to run the upcoming Million-Dollar sprint-car race at the historic Ohio oval, but is disappointed there is a World of Outlaws race scheduled the same night (Sept. 20) in Nebraska. "I definitely want to be there for that, and right now that looks like a problem," he said. "They've got it on the same date as a World of Outlaws race. I don't know what in the world they are doing that for, because I know just about every driver in the country wants to be there for that. "I definitely want to run that race," he said. "If we are not in the top three in points, we'll be there. If you get to be fourth or fifth in the Outlaw points, it is just fourth or fifth. The top three is a lot better. I don't want to miss that race, but if we are leading the points, we'll miss it." |

Haudenschild Chases Gold
CHICO, CA (08-26-01) - Two time Gold Cup Race of Champions winner Jac Haudenschild will return to Silver Dollar Speedway next week to seek his third championship crown. Haudenschild of Wooster, Ohio was absent during last years classic but will join the nearly 100 entrants expected for this big Money Show down featuring the Pennzoil World of Outlaw sprint cars September 4-7. The California Sprint Car Civil War series starts things off on Wednesday September 4. The Outlaws will come to the 1/4 mile clay oval at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds on Thursday September 5 and compete in complete race programs each night leading up to the grand prize of $20,000 for the Saturday night feature winner. In all over $170,000 will be paid out over the four days. Haudenschild captured back to back Gold Cup titles in 1998 and 99. He achieved this driving for longtime car owner Jack Elden, but was not able to field a car for the 2001 race when Elden retired. After some uncertain car assignment, Haudeschild has landed with veteran car owner Guy Forbrook. One World of Outlaw victory for the season does not truly measure their success as the team has just now hit stride finishing consistently in the top five positions night after night. This is in true Haudenschild form, since he's always done best after a familiarization period with a team. "Little Jac" or the "Wild Child" as he is often called also has excelled on the Chico clay. In addition to his Gold Cup victories, he's scored a pair of Mini Gold Cup titles. He also won numerous regular season races when he raced for former California car owner Ed Watson. Haudenschild is scheduled to be among the Thursday night qualifiers along with current World of Outlaw point leader and nine time Gold Cup champion Steve Kinser of Bloomington, Indiana. Kinser has not won Gold Cup since 1992, but has been tearing up tracks everywhere this year including the Knoxville Nationals where he won his twelfth National title. Other travelers on the Thursday night roster include Craig Dollansky of Elk River, Minnesota, Mark Kinser of Oolitic, Indiana, North Dakota's Donny Shatz, and Californian Brad Furr. Gates open at 5 PM each night. Wednesday night tickets are general admission. Information about this event can be obtained from the track business office at 916-969-7484 or at the track website at www.iohnpadienmotorsports.corn.
