18 - dakotah and nodak results |
| Well,
the good news is that the car is running
strong right now. The bad news is the results
don't completely show that from the weekend.
On Saturday night, Jac qualified fast and
started up front in his heat race, only
to finish 4th - missing automatic starting
spot in the dash. Lucky for him, he was
able to sneak in to the last starting spot
in the dash by way of his qualifying time.
So, he started 10th in the dash and ended
up finishing 5th, which was very good given
the few amount of laps they actually run!
And 5th is where he would end up in the
feature as well. A top five... we'll take
it.
On to Sunday night,
things got interesting. Jac had a rocket
underneath him. He was quick qualifier in
fact! That guaranteed him a dash starting
spot - which was a good thing, as his 4th
place heat race finish would not get him
in as an automatic starter. Jac blasted
forward in the dash, going from 7th to 4th
by checkers. The feature was a good one.
Jac started 4th but was in second as the
race wound down and was getting faster at
the end. His fastest lap actually came on
lap 31 - compared to a lap 4 fast lap for
eventual winner Jason Meyers. Problem was
though, that Jac could feel a tire going
down on the white flag lap. He eased up
and limped the car home in 2nd spot. The
tire ended up blowing just as he was going
to the scales. How much this affected the
weight, we are not sure, but the car weighed
in 40 lbs light at the scales after the
race. They actually re-weighed the car numerous
times - and the confusing part is that the
car weighed a different amount each time
they weighed it. But hey, what's
done and is done and we take the DQ and
move to the next race knowing the R19 is
fast right now!... <results>

13 - knoxville and other recent races |
| Well,
the Knoxville Nationals are once again in
the record books. Jac had a solid car all
week long. The Wild Child qualified the
R19 hot rod on Wednesday night. Solid qualifying
and heat race runs put him on the outside
of row two for the feature start. He would
stay in the top five all race and it appeared
that he was getting faster as the race wore
on. In the final laps he was running 4th
and was hot on the trail of Steve Kinser
for 3rd. He was definitely the faster car
but Kinser blocked the preferred line to
perfection and held Jac up just enough to
secure the number three spot.
That one position proved
to a pivotal point because Jac missed the
top ten in overall qualifying points by
just one spot (he was 11th). That meant
he would not get to race in the A Scramble
on Friday night and work at improving his
starting position for Saturday night. So...
he would line up for the 48th Nationals
in the 11th spot. It was tough track to
pass on come feature time and he ended the
night in 7th spot. Certainly not bad, although
it was 6 spots back from where the team
wanted to finish!
The team secured a
podium finish just three nights later at
Red River Valley when Jac brought home a
3rd place finish. Thursday night racing
was rained out one lap into the feature...

2 - LATEST RESULTS |
|
It was an up and down weekend in Wisconsin.
Two top ten finishes is what it wound up
being, but a few problems
probably prevented Jac from a little better
finishing positions. On Saturday night,
he got upside down in the dash while battling
for the 2nd spot on the start. That stuck
him back in row 5 on the feature start,
when in all reality, he could have been
going from a front row start instead. Oh
well... it's on to Knoxville!

29 - michigan, ohio, kentucky results |

Three
top ten finishes highlighted the weekend
of racing which saw teams battle in Michigan,
Ohio, and Kentucky. Friday night the Carnahan
Motorsports R19 came home in 6th place at
I-96 in Odessa. The action moved back to
the Buckeye state on Saturday and it was
a 7th place finish at Jim Nier's KC Raceway.
Teams hit Paducah International Speedway
on Monday night for a rescheduled show that
was rained out earlier in the year. Jac
had a real hot rod on his hands for this
one, as he battled in the top four all night
long. He started the feature in 4th, but
jumped up to 2nd and was preparing to stage
a battle for the lead in the early stages.
He would eventually be passed by Jason Meyers
and ended up finishing in 4th, but a good
run none the less.
